"Oh, hello there!" the pokewoman greeted you, the distinctive antennae on her head identifying her as an Alakawham. "You're a new tamer, yes? Our evolution stones are just as reliable as what you may find in a Pokemart, but they're much more affordable!"
You tap on one of the large, reddish stones, examining the crack running down the crystal's center. "Doesn't an evolution stone need to be properly cut before it can be used?"
The man shrugged. "It depends. Despite what the big companies might say, there's nothing stopping you from taking a stone straight from the ground and using it to evolve a girl. Heaven knows it happens often enough."
"That's true." You nodded. "But raw or uncut evolution stones tend to produce weaker effects compared to a properly prepared version. The resulting evolution isn't quite as strong as it would have been."
"Which is why our prices are cheaper." the Alakawham interjected smoothly. "We even have stones that are very difficult to find on the open market. Please, have a look. I'm sure you'll find something that'll catch your interest."

I would say get 3 Mana Stones, a couple of Fire Stones, and a couple of Thunder Stones.
ReplyDeleteThat's 21,000 SLC, leaving us with 13,000. Still nothing to sneeze at.
The Mana Stones would be for if our Witch becomes a Sorceress, which would allow us to make her an Archmage, while the Fire/Thunder Stones give us more options for other 'girls, plus we could evolve our Witch to the respective Elementalist if she wants.
21,000 Is too much for stones that could very well result in the girls being comparatively crippled with whatever they ought to be.
DeleteWe're better off continuing our shopping to see what else we might need. That money could be a whole lot more useful elsewhere.
The mana stones, it's better not to take them, by the time we try to push for archmage evo well probably have more than enough for the real deal.
Look at the dex, TRULY look through it, of what breeds might be most useful, and tell me if you think having a couple fire or thunder stones is really worth having considering the odds we find the pre-evolution comparatively with finding their evolution.
We already have the fire pokeballs, stop pushing for that element.
I vote we buy nothing and continue searching.
Wait, what!? Weaker evolutions?
ReplyDeleteWhat numbers are we talking about here? 30% weaker?
In character, you don't know exactly how much.
ReplyDeleteOut of character, any pokegirls you evolve with a flawed stone will get a penalty to the stat rolls they're supposed to get
I wouldve probably gone for "refined stones make for stronger girls cuz more power".
DeleteNot only would it make selling the rocks easier, itd also make sense in that stones found in the wilds is exactly what evolves ferals. So thatd mean all ferals are weaker if they werent born that way.
Ok, so we've got one vote that's essentially "BUY ALL THE THINGS" and another vote that's essentially "NO DON"T BUY ANYTHING". I'll leave this open for a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteDo not buy the things.
DeleteDo not buy the things. We haven't bought potions as far as I know.
ReplyDeleteOk, so that's 3 for "Do not buy the things". I'll have the next post up tomorrow.
